The Legacy Trail
Sarasota County's Legacy Trail is an enthralling biking and jogging trail that stretches nearly 15 miles from Venice Florida into Sarasota Florida. The Legacy Trail has trailheads at Caspersen Beach, Shamrock Park Nature Center, the Venetian Waterway Park (VWP) at the historic Venice Train Depot, as well as Osprey's Oscar Scherer State Park, Nokomis Park, Patriots Park, Laurel Park, and Bay Street Park in Sarasota. The Trail follows the original CSX railroad corridor from Sarasota to Venice.
The Legacy Trail attracts cycling enthusiasts throughout Sarasota County. With Sarasota's average annual temperature of 73 degrees, bicyclists enjoy the Legacy trail almost every day of the year.
The Legacy Trail is an expression of Sarasota County's and Venice Florida's commitment to healthy recreation and a high quality of life. Opened in 2008, the Legacy Trail remains the county's largest public recreation project.
